Jason Statham (born in Shirebrook, Derbyshire on 26 July 1967) is an English actor, producer, martial artist, and former diver. He has studied Wing Chun kung fu, karate, and kickboxing.
While working as a model for French Connection, Statham was introduced to British director Guy Ritchie and was cast in the role of "Bacon" in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). The movie was well received by both critics and audiences, and helped catapult Statham into the public eye.
His second collaboration with Ritchie came in the 2000 film Snatch, playing the role of "Turkish". Cast alongside popular actors Brad Pitt, Dennis Farina and Benicio del Toro, and with the movie earning more than $80 million in box-office revenue, Statham was able to break into Hollywood.
Statham was offered more film roles, and in 2002 he was cast as the lead role of driver Frank Martin in the action movie The Transporter, in which he was responsible for his own stunts. The film was succesful and spawned two sequels, Transporter 2 (2005) and Transporter 3 (2008).
In 2010, Statham appeared alongside fellow action stars Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke, among others in The Expendables. Statham plays Lee Christmas, a former SAS soldier and expert at close quarters combat using knives. He has reprised the role in The Expendables 2 (2012) and The Expendables 3 (2014). (Wikipedia)

Nice addition....I am shocked that I have seen so many of his movies. Looking at the posters...it seems he got off to a good start...but lately has been in the same type of movie almost everytime out now. Maybe Expendable 3 will take place in seniors home and they will argue about the meaning of life...versus shooting, fighting and blowing things up.
ReplyDeleteI've just seen a teaser poster to Expendables 3, a lot of stars packed into this one, the four new stars are Ford, Snipes, Gibson and Banderas. Thanks for commenting Bruce, the last few films I saw Statham in were more drama than action and not particularly good drama. Hopefully he'll be back in kick-arse form in Expendables 3.
